4 Steps to a Happy Work Life

It might be surprising but Happy Work-Life is not a Myth. The one good thing that has come out of work from home is No Office Politics. They say Employees don’t leave jobs, they leave their bosses. we totally agree but, along with the bosses, they also leave their coworkers and the work culture.

Here are a few tips that can help you get a happy work-life:

Work life Balance

1. Draw a line between Sharing & Sharing too much

Things can get really heavy if you treat your work friends as your childhood buddies. We all need friends at work. Who wants to sit alone in a cafeteria during tea breaks? But what if your tea breaks start getting longer because you have so much to share with your coworkers or “work friends”. Work suffers, obviously!

2. Stay away from Office Gossip

The bigger the organization the more grapevines they have. People talk, they love talking especially behind each other’s backs. Even your best of friends will be talking about you and you cannot do anything about it other than sulking. If you’ve made the mistake of treating your coworker/ competition as your best friend, you’re in for some surprises.

3. Your Manager doesn’t hate you even if it looks like it

Everybody seems to hate their manager. It’s like a law. But have you ever thought about why do you feel that way? It is because they expect you to give your 200percent and always push you to work better. Perfect is not a word in their dictionary and all your work has to room for improvement. But isn’t that good! Managers push their reportee to work harder and in that process, they can be direct and maybe not so polite. But instead of taking their criticism to heart, just pause and realize it’s Not personal. If you ever met them at a supermarket, you’ll see a completely different person. More likable and happy.

4. Push Yourself beyond expectations

This one is pretty simple. You should always push yourself to do better work in any field you are in. Good enough is good but better is great. Your manager expects a great deal from you but doing more than you’re expected of will give you an edge over others and that’s important. Everything starting from appraisal, promotions, your own growth depends on the effort that you put in. Surprise others and yourself with what you can do. Yes, a lot goes into it as well. Extra working hours, more mentor sessions, after-work online courses, and whatever it takes. It’s worth it in the end.

Lastly, remember that having a happy work-life start with treating your work as work and not your life.
